It is a barren, rocky island close to the city of Sharm el-Sheikh. It is the largest group of islands near the Gulf of Suez in the northern parts of the Red Sea measuring about 16 kilometers in length.
These islands are world-renowned for underwater diving and fishing. It is also one of the most significant turtle nesting areas in Egypt and has a high density of varied bio diversity.
